Organiser Foreword
We are delighted to welcome you all to the Regional Road Race Championship, which provides Women’s and Open National B racing in the rural Derbyshire Dales. We are proud that this will be the 3rd running of the event as a partnership between the University of Nottingham and the Yomp Bonk Crew.
Please read the information provided to maximise your experience throughout the event. Most of all, we’d like to thank the volunteers, marshalls and officials that have helped us prepare for and deliver this event this weekend.
We would also like to extend a thank you to our sponsors Fusion Media, Velo Bavarian and Kalas.

Rider Conduct
Recent events and general discussion between commissaires have raised concerns regarding riders flouting the highway code and riding on the right-hand side of the carriageway whilst racing. This event takes place on an open road, where other moving traffic and public vehicles will be travelling in the opposite direction.
All riders MUST keep to the nearside lane at all times during this event. The course has blind corners, limited views and solid centre white lines. Crossing the solid white line in the middle of the carriageway is prohibited.

During the event, we have two commissaire cars and a moto commissaire. If you are observed crossing the solid centre white line OR crossing over white lines and compromising the safety of others, you are risking instant disqualification. We appeal to all riders to ride in a safe manner and to follow the rules of the highway at all times. Junctions will be managed by Accredited Marshals, and these areas are fine to take the racing line whilst in the main peloton. Junctions will not be managed for dropped riders, so please treat your race as a training ride if you are dropped. You are more than welcome to complete the race, but the junctions won’t be closed for you.
Support Crew & Team Managers
Race Communications
All in-race communications will be by UHF radio. Separate channels will be assigned for marshals, organisations, and commissaires and they will be advised as appropriate.
A convoy radio check will be carried out during the neutralised section.
Feed Zone
The feed zone will be on the Winksworth Road (B5023) directly outside of HQ. You may use any portion of it prior to the Left Turn onto Windley Lane. It is recommended that supporter walk from HQ, in order to avoid parking on course. The verge is narrow, but there are a couple of lay-bys where you can take refuge.
Feeding will not be allowed on the first or last lap and must take place on the left. Bottles can be dropped at the feed zone only. Littering will not be tolerated, and all wrappers must be returned to your pocket, you will be at risk of disqualification and/or a fine. Team supporters must make an effort to be identifiable by wearing a team jersey/colour etc.
Parking is not permitted on the race route or at the Tiger Inn.
If you intend to watch the finish, please walk and avoid bringing your car.
Team Cars & Neutral Service
Team cars are permitted in the convoy. The team manager must have the appropriate insurance and team manager endorsement on their licence. Teams must also have 3 riders take the start (R11.3.).
Team managers must email barney@yompbonkcrew.com by Friday 30th May to be allowed a place in the convoy. Team managers must attend the driver briefing.
There will be a dedicated neutral service. Please bring spare wheels, if you don’t there won’t be any service for you.
Race Regulations
The race will be run under the Technical Regulations of British Cycling. Riders who fall more than 8 minutes behind the race bubble, will be withdrawn, but will still be placed. They will hear the bell early and allowed to sprint the following lap.
Regional Championships shall be open to full time students or members of the armed forces who by necessity are required to live away from the Region of their normal residence. Riders
Sign On
A valid physical 2025 British Cycling licence must be presented at sign-on. Your licence will be held for the duration of the race. Should you withdraw from the race early, you can collect your licence from HQ. Please ensure you sign on before it closes.
Rider Briefings
A briefing will be held at HQ 10 minutes before the roll out for each road race in the HQ car park.
Attendance of all briefings is mandatory.
Rider Safety
Protection for the riders and the convoy is provided by motorcycle marshals (NEG), lead cars and a team of static marshals. Cover is limited to when you are between the first lead car and the final vehicle in the race – usually the First Aid Vehicle. If you fall behind the vehicles following the chief commissaire, then you will no longer be in the safety cover provided by the race convoy, and the Highway Code applies. You must stay to the left-hand side and never cross solid white lines.
